Neighbor to Neighbor

Building leadership among community members to organize and lead positive change in their communities.

About Neighbor to Neighbor

A grants program that awards funding and technical assistance to small, grassroots organizations.

One of Seattle Foundation’s longest-standing programs, Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) supports grassroots efforts that increase engagement, power and influence of community members affected by poverty and racial disparities. N2N started in 1991 as a grant and technical assistance program and today is a key strategy of Seattle Foundation’s Center for Community Partnerships. Serving community-based organizations in South Seattle, White Center and Kent, N2N plays a crucial role in supporting efforts led by grassroots community members in under-served communities.

The priorities for N2N are efforts that build leadership among community members to organize and lead positive change in their communities, including advocacy trainings, direct organizing, focus groups and other mobilization efforts.

N2N awards grants on a quarterly basis. The deadlines for submitting applications are January 15, April 15, July 15 and October 15. Given N2N’s priority of supporting grassroots nonprofits, our team provides technical assistance to support community members in completing their applications, project planning, identifying a fiscal sponsor and potential partners, and connecting to other community resources.
