We’re proud to announce that Seattle Foundation’s very own Bao-Tram Do was honored by the Center for Women and Democracy. Along with First Lady Trudi Inslee, Do received the Kicking Up Our Heels Award for her work advancing the rights of women in Washington state. She received her award on International Women’s Day and is speaking on practical strategies for advancing the role of women March 23.
For anyone who’s worked with Bao-Tram, the award is well-deserved confirmation of her dedication, intellect and community commitment. Bao-Tram Do has been an essential voice for marginalized communities, especially in her expert support of grassroots organizations through our Neighbor to Neighbor program. She is also the former president of APACEvotes, an organization that strives to increase access and participation in electoral and civic affairs by registering, educating and protecting Asian and Pacific Islander voters. The group has mobilized over 50,000 community members in Washington State to increase the voice of Asian and Pacific Islander people in Washington. Bao-Tram was also a 2016 graduate of the Center for Women & Democracy Leadership Institute and is board member of Summer Search Seattle as well as a steering committee member on Seattle City Club’s 2016-2017 Civic Health Index.
"Bao-Tram's dedication, community insight and commitment to equity and opportunity have always made her a valued member of the Seattle Foundation team," said President and CEO Tony Mestres. "We’re excited to see her work acknowledged by the greater community, and proud of the work she leads here at the Foundation focused on grassroots organizations and investments to immigrants, refugees, and other underrepresented groups. Now more than ever, we need values-driven leaders like Bao-Tram who have an orientation and unwavering commitment towards uplifting vulnerable communities."
Congratulations to Bao-Tram Do from all of us at Seattle Foundation!
